Overview
The Cisco Headsets mobile application is designed for Cisco’s premium headset series, including models like the 721, 722, and 730. Created to enhance the user experience, the app provides seamless setup, customization, and updates, ensuring access to the latest audio technology. Its primary purpose is to empower Cisco headset users to easily manage, customize, and fully understand their devices, unlocking the full potential of their audio experience.
Problems
Complexity in Device Management
Users struggled with understanding and configuring and managing their headset settings, which often required searching and find out information through user guide-book.
Lack of Customization
Users desired more personalized control over their headset functionalities, such as managing multiple bluetooth devices, adjusting sound modes and managing connections effortlessly.
Firmware Updates
Keeping the headsets updated with the latest firmware was a manual and time-consuming process.
Goals
Simplify Device Management
Create a more intuitive and user-friendly interface for configuring and managing headset settings.
Enhance Customization Options
Provide users with greater control over their headset functionalities, allowing them to personalize settings such as sound modes and connection preferences.
Streamline Firmware Updates Automate the firmware update process, making it quicker and easier for users to keep their headsets updated.
Target users
Our target users work across various industries, including government, healthcare, call centers, and technology companies. They are individuals who own the 700 series headset, operate in hybrid environments, and need to connect seamlessly to multiple devices such as desk phones, desktops, and video conferencing systems, both at home and in the office.
Effortless device switching, even during commutes or while listening to music, is a critical feature for these users. Additionally, ensuring optimized voice quality for meetings and calls is essential to support their communication and productivity needs.

Highlight product feature and set signature experiences
First time UX
How might we provide a seamless first-time pairing experience for end users? The traditional method of pairing Bluetooth headsets through system settings feels inefficient and outdated. My goal was to design intuitive interfaces that simplify the initial Bluetooth connectivity process. By implementing a step-by-step connection approach directly within the app or device, users can enjoy a smoother, more guided, and user-friendly first-time setup experience.
Device Pairing
Visual elements are powerful and intuitive, helping users quickly understand information. To enhance the user experience, I incorporated visualizations and animations that simplify the pairing process. These elements clearly convey the pairing status and provide straightforward call-to-action (CTA) buttons to guide users seamlessly through the next steps.
Tutorials
I designed a 3D interactive tutorial to help users effectively understand and engage with the product. This tutorial includes onboarding videos that demonstrate button interactions, how to adjust and wear the device, LED behaviors, and more.
The motivation behind creating these rich, dynamic contents was to address the fact that people often overlook text and printed materials. By adopting a more engaging and visual approach, I aimed to provide a more intuitive and impactful onboarding experience.
Fast forward process and set design system for the consistent experience
Design System
I designed a comprehensive design system and branding strategy from the ground up for Cisco accessories’ first mobile application release. This system was crafted to function seamlessly across both iOS and Android platforms, supporting dark and light modes. It establishes a cohesive visual identity that not only ensures consistency across platforms but also resonates strongly with our target audience.
Micro Animations
During this project, I introduced micro-animations to create a more interactive and engaging visual experience that feels dynamic and alive. These animations visually indicate connection and pairing statuses, as well as sound settings and effects, enhancing the interactivity and intuitiveness of the interface.
The combination of 2D and 3D visual elements was carefully crafted to strike a balance between simplicity and richness, ensuring the visuals remain clean yet immersive, aligning well with the overall design goals.
