Empowered headset users to easily set up, customize, and update their devices—unlocking the full potential of Cisco hardware.
Overview
Cisco offered a wide portfolio of headsets, but until this project, there was no dedicated app to manage them. Users struggled with setup, firmware updates, and feature discovery, often relying on IT support.
I designed the Cisco Headsets Companion App to simplify these experiences. The app enables:
Seamless setup with guided onboarding
Customization of noise control, voice prompts, and button behaviors
Firmware updates to keep devices current
By creating a single, intuitive touchpoint, the app empowered both enterprise and individual users to fully understand and control their headsets—unlocking the product’s full potential.
Problems
Complex device management: Users struggled to find and adjust settings, often relying on manuals.
Limited customization: Users wanted more control (Bluetooth connections, sound modes, preferences).
Cumbersome firmware updates: Manual updates made it hard to keep devices current.
Goals
Simplify management → Design an intuitive, unified interface for configuring headsets.
Enable personalization → Allow users to easily customize sound modes, connections, and button behaviors.
Streamline updates → Automate firmware updates to keep devices current with minimal effort.

Research
Through competitive analysis and user feedback, our team identified the most critical features to invest in:
Seamless pairing
Active noise cancellation
Audio equalizer
Smooth first-time user experience
Easy firmware updates
Prioritization
I translated these findings into an information architecture that focused on clarity and user engagement. This structure not only guided navigation and feature placement, but also served as a shared blueprint for software and product teams—ensuring alignment on the app’s key tasks.

Onboarding
How might we make first-time pairing effortless?
Traditional Bluetooth pairing through system settings felt outdated and confusing.
I designed a step-by-step guided flow directly in the app, simplifying setup and reducing errors.
The result: a smooth, intuitive first-time experience that made users confident from the start.
Device Pairing
Used visual cues and lightweight animations to make pairing status immediately clear.
Added straightforward call-to-action buttons to guide users step by step.
This reduced confusion during setup and made the pairing flow feel more modern and intuitive.
Tutorials
Designed a 3D interactive tutorial with onboarding videos to demonstrate button interactions, device fit, and LED behaviors.
Moved beyond static manuals—users often ignored text-heavy materials—by creating engaging, visual guidance.
Result
More intuitive and memorable onboarding experience, reducing support needs and helping users feel confident with their headset.

Fast forward process and set design system for the consistent experience
Design System
Built Cisco Accessories’ first mobile design system from the ground up, covering iOS and Android.
Supported dark and light modes, ensuring flexibility across environments.
Created a cohesive visual identity that guaranteed consistency across platforms and elevated the brand’s perception in the enterprise market.
Micro Animations
Introduced micro-animations to make the interface feel more dynamic and engaging.
Animations clearly indicated pairing status, connection changes, and sound settings, reducing ambiguity.
Combined 2D and 3D elements to strike a balance between simplicity and richness, keeping visuals clean yet immersive.
Impact
These subtle animations enhanced interactivity and intuitiveness, helping users feel more confident while navigating headset features.
Result
Successfully launched on iOS and Android, making Cisco’s first dedicated headset management app available to a global user base.
The app delivered seamless onboarding and pairing, cutting setup time and reducing IT support dependency for enterprise users.
Interactive tutorials and micro-animations improved feature discoverability and built user confidence, leading to higher engagement with advanced headset functions (ANC, EQ, button customization).
A unified design system established cross-platform consistency, strengthening Cisco’s brand presence in the collaboration device market.
Contributed to Cisco’s headset portfolio adoption by providing a differentiated software experience that complemented premium hardware.
